Carla: Many thanks! Starers is a heck of a word, and I'm sure I'll be using it more soon!

Thanks for listening! Got any topics you'd like explored, please let us know.

People like to stare at my son too, usually because he is sqealing--or just being himself. I must confess however that sometimes that I stare back at them just as hard. I just want them to know how it feels. He is just being himself and I am not embarrassed by his behaviors. The starers (I just made up that word) should be embarrassed by their ignorance and unaccepting behavior.
Keep up the great topics

I have a 20 year old who scares people in public. He recently answered the door of a home we have for sale and scared the potential buyers away. Call from our realator: "You'll have to move __ out of the house while it is for sale." I love this website.

I loved your discussion regarding stares. My Daniel makes lots of lou, unusual noises in public (his favorite is what we call "wah wahing" which sounds like an old Native American call with the hand hitting the mouth. People stare, and I usually don't make eye contact with them. I find that the older he gets (he'll be eight in December), the more uncomfortable it makes me.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. Knowing that I'm not alone has always been the best therapy for me.

Keep sharing your insights and observations!
